MedioEvA. Per un archivio delle scrittrici nel medioevo Towards an Archive of Women Writers in the Middle Ages

University project. Scientific coordinator: Donatella Manzoli (Roma Sapienza)

The project was conceived with the aim of developing and updating the work initiated by Peter Dronke on medieval women’s writing through the creation of a structured register of women authors active in the different linguistic and cultural traditions of medieval Europe, from the sixth to the fifteenth century.

The research involves the collection and organisation of biographical, bibliographical, chronological and geographical data relating to women writers in Latin, Byzantine Greek, Occitan, Old French and Italian, with particular attention to the development of comparative and synthetic research tools.

This line of research remains open to further developments, additions and collaborations within the activities of the MedioEvA Centre.
